A PACK OF LIES TO GOD, by WILL CHAMBERLAIN First Line: I wonder if a little lying, ever Last Line: If I shall bring a pack of lies to god. Subject(s): Lies | ||||||||
I wonder if a little lying, ever Of others mindfulscreening, friendly lies Will let me in the final checking weather The fogs that hide the gates of Paradise. I've taken chances on the side of kindness, With Ananias have my footsteps trod I wonder if I'll reach eternal gladness, If I shall bring a pack of lies to God. If I shall bring a pack of lies, and Peter, Searching my burden, dim with fellow tears, Shall find I made a brother's living sweeter, And added to a sister's urn of years By words and acts all truthless and misleading I wonder if in welcome he will nod, Only the spirit of my weakness heeding If I shall bring a pack of lies to God. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...TOMORROW by ANNA LETITIA BARBAULD LYING MY HEAD OFF by CATE MARVIN THE BOOK OF LIES by JAMES TATE THE CONFESSIONAL by ROBERT BROWNING OUR LIES AND THEIR BEAUTY by BRUCE WEIGL THE MAIDS OF ELFIN-MERE by WILLIAM ALLINGHAM AN OLD SIOUX IN THE CITY by WILL CHAMBERLAIN |
