A HUNTER'S HORN, by
First Line: As I walked through the hills one morn
Last Line: And faintly heard a hunter's horn.

As I walked through the hills one morn
I faintly heard a hunter's horn.
Far off, among dim peaks it blew,
Another sound I could not hear
Rang silently within my ear.
(A ghost of music, memory-born,
A hound's great voice, thrown far and clear.)
Above my head the skylarks flew,
The grass was glistening with dew,
And in my head new joy was born
As I walked through the hills one morn
And faintly heard a hunter's horn.
