SURGEON, by KATHERINE HUNTER COE First Line: How powerfully he dominates his day Last Line: When they recall the great, kind heart of him. Subject(s): Surgery | ||||||||
How powerfully he dominates his day With judgment and in understanding skill; And courage rare that falters not until Grim death defeated turns another way. The task is done; a life is saved; once more In quick succession comes another case And he forgetting self again must face -- A life to save -- death lurking as before! And so he lives and serves humanity In duty's thorny path of highest worth; No measuring his service here on earth. Less difficult his life if he could see The gratitude of all whose eyes must dim -- When they recall the great, kind heart of him. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...FOR H.
