BEAUTY OF LIFE, by MARY MILES COLVIN First Line: Beauty of life has been given to me Last Line: "thank god for the beauty I've found today." Subject(s): Beauty; Life; Love | ||||||||
Beauty of life has been given to me In the patterned leaf of every tree; In the golden gleam of each ray of light That comes to me from morn till night; In the radiant color of every flower, In fashioned garden or country bower; In the lilting music of wood bird's call, In the voice of dear one, best of all. Beauty for eye and ear and hand, In voice of sea and voice of land; Roaring of waves with a rhythmic din, A low refrain from a violin; Touch of the hand of a dear old friend, Words of kindness without end; Love of man and woman and child, Of all God's creatures tame and wild. Love of the life that was given to me, Love of the life that is to be; Love of my work and its stern command, Love of the strength that is in my hand; O, beauty of life that has come to me, Let me be grateful enough for thee; Let me live on and say alway, "Thank God for the beauty I've found today." | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE INVENTION OF LOVE by MATTHEA HARVEY TWO VIEWS OF BUSON by ROBERT HASS A LOVE FOR FOUR VOICES: HOMAGE TO FRANZ JOSEPH HAYDN by ANTHONY HECHT AN OFFERING FOR PATRICIA by ANTHONY HECHT LATE AFTERNOON: THE ONSLAUGHT OF LOVE by ANTHONY HECHT A SWEETENING ALL AROUND ME AS IT FALLS by JANE HIRSHFIELD CHAMBER MUSIC: 27 by JAMES JOYCE |
