TIME'S REMOTEST HOUR, by PAULINE COURTNEY First Line: Time annihilates most grief and tears Last Line: When death will rob us of each other's power! Subject(s): Time | ||||||||
Time annihilates most grief and tears, and lends enchantment to the dearest things. Whatever darkness dwells in future years I mock with song that daily sweeter sings. The sun's now lengthy radiance walks with me throughout the purple night at day's decease. Though bread is frugal and spare drink there be, your spirit's strength will ever lend me peace. No loneliness can rob my solitude of triumph or its sweet tranquility. No heart can know the gratitude imbued for having known a deep humility ... an armor for the sad remotest hour when death will rob us of each other's power! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...ELEVEN EYES: FINAL SECTION by LYN HEJINIAN THE FATALIST: COME OCTOBER by LYN HEJINIAN THE FATALIST: HOME by LYN HEJINIAN THE FATALIST: TIME IS FILLED by LYN HEJINIAN SLOWLY: I FREQUENTLY SLOWLY WISH by LYN HEJINIAN ALL THE DIFFICULT HOURS AND MINUTES by JANE HIRSHFIELD A DAY IS VAST by JANE HIRSHFIELD FROM THIS HEIGHT by TONY HOAGLAND THE SATURN PRINCESS AND THE LORD OF MARS by PAULINE COURTNEY TO HENRY LINCOLN JOHNSON - LAWYER by GEORGIA DOUGLAS JOHNSON |
