RAIN AFTER DROUGHT, by
First Line: The dripping of the raindrops
Last Line: Are washed clean by welcome rain!
Subject(s): Rain

The dripping of the raindrops
From the trellis o'er the door,
Where the grapevine is now freshened
From its dryness of before,
Starts my heart to beating
With the music of the rain
As it falls upon the garden
And the trees and roads again;
Oh the beauty and the fragrance
Of the misty fields of grain,
Since the burnt and blistered grasses
Are washed clean by welcome rain!
