THE DISCOVERER, by NATHALIA CRANE First Line: Mystical, sorrowful, stiff and still Last Line: He had found at last where the summer goes. | ||||||||
Mystical, sorrowful, stiff and still, A sparrow stood on a wintry sill. The night wind laden with icy sleet Ruffled his feathers and stung his feet, But his right eye peered through a window pane And visioned the warmth of a June-time lane. He saw the lights from a fireplace fall Over the patterns on somebody's wall. His heart was thrilled by a paper rose -- He had found at last where the summer goes. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...BERKLEY COMMON by NATHALIA CRANE CASTLE 'BILL' by NATHALIA CRANE CASTLE WILLIAM by NATHALIA CRANE |
