PASS ON THE TORCH, by ALLEN EASTMAN CROSS First Line: Pass on the torch, pass on the flame Last Line: Pass on the torch, pass on the flame. Subject(s): Jesus Christ | ||||||||
Pass on the torch, pass on the flame; Remember whence the Glory came; And eyes are on you as you run, Beyond the shining of the sun. Lord Christ, we take the torch from Thee; We must be true, we must be free, And clean of heart and strong of soul, To bear the Glory to its goal. America, God hear the prayer America for God, we dare, With Lincoln's heart and Lincoln's hand, To fling a flame across the land. O Lord of life, to Thee we kneel; Maker of men, our purpose seal! We will, for honor of Thy Name, Pass on the Torch, pass on the flame. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE GREEN CHRIST by ANDREW HUDGINS MEDITATION ON SAVIORS by ROBINSON JEFFERS COMPANIONSHIP by MALTBIE DAVENPORT BABCOCK TO A WREN ON CALVARY by LARRY LEVIS THE TRANSFIGURATION by EDWIN MUIR SOUNDS OF THE RESURRECTED DEAD MAN'S FOOTSTEPS (#3): 1.
