FLAGS, by LESLIE CROSS First Line: O flags, flags, you have eyes Last Line: But you are imperishable; the mountains fall under your feet. Subject(s): Flags | ||||||||
O flags, flags, you have eyes, you have bright feet, you have throats. You are horses, you are hawks. You have fought all battles, you have fallen upon the desert and brought forth blossoms. You are full of blood, and your cries are the cries of graves; you have flaunted the sea, you have derided the air; you have hanged and hacked; you have taken the gift of men's lives and have given them nothing but your colors in their eyes. But you are imperishable; the mountains fall under your feet. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...A PRIMER ABOUT THE FLAG by MARVIN BELL THE KISS TO THE FLAG by JEAN FRANCOIS VICTOR AICARD THE LOST COLORS by MARY A.
