MIRAGE, by DOROTHY CRUIKSHANK First Line: Here with the ocean in front of me Last Line: Like eyes that I knew in the long ago. Subject(s): Mirages | ||||||||
Here with the ocean in front of me, Mile upon mile of vivid blue, Strange that the desert is all I see, Strange that the sand is all I rue. Sky touching sea in an even line How can one look at the rim of the world, And see instead the incarnadine Flag of the mountain sun unfurled? So oftentimes when I look in your eyes Where black fires smoulder and sudden glow, They are strangely blue and merry and wise Like eyes that I knew in the long ago. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...MIRAGE by RICHARD THOMAS CHURCH THE MIRAGE by NATHAN HASKELL DOLE MIRAGE - THE PASSING WEST by ELIZABETH GARBUTT ON BRODSKY'S COLLECTED by MICHAEL S.
