SONG, by THOMAS D'URFEY First Line: Bright was the morning, cool the air Last Line: I never shall have rest. | ||||||||
Bright was the morning, cool the Air Serene was all the Sky When on the Waves I left my Fair, The Center of my Joy; Heaven and Nature smiling were, And nothing sad but I; Each Rosie Field its odour spred All fragrant was the shore Each River God rose from his Bed, And sighing own'd her Pow'r; Curling their Waves, they deck'd their Steeds As proud of what they bore. Glide on ye Waters, bear these Lines, And tell her how opprest; Bear all my Sighs, ye gentle Winds And waft them to her Breast. Tell her if e'er she prove unkind, I never shall have rest. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...SONGS OF TRAVEL: 44 by ROBERT LOUIS STEVENSON A COWBOY ALONE WITH HIS CONSCIENCE by JAMES BARTON ADAMS THE HYMNARY: 361.
