THE UNCONSUMING FIRE, by
First Line: The young leaves spring
Last Line: Incorporeal light.
Subject(s): Leaves; Spring; Summer

The young leaves spring
To the light again
Bodiless spirits,
Thin as rain,

Nothing of earth,
Of air entire.
Green, as of water,
Green, as of fire,

Blown like spray
From the plumy billow,
Jets in the poplar,
Streams in the willow.

Summer will bring
The burdened sheaf,
Fruit of copper,
Enameled leaf;

But for a dazzled hour
The sight
Kindles at
Incorporeal light.
