WHICH SHALL I CHOOSE?, by
First Line: I am looking for a nosegay
Last Line: "we love, not 'glitter,' but modesty."
Subject(s): Flowers; Modesty; Violets

I am looking for a nosegay
To wear in my button hole,
As I walk into my garden
The flowers speak to my soul.

"Which shall I choose," I say aloud
And from out the bush near by,
Comes a loud voice which I can hear,—
"Oh pluck me, ere I die."

I pause and find the marigold
Resplendent in golden hue;
"No, you're far too vain, I'm looking
For a lowlier flower than you.

"Ah! here is one, so sweet and shy!
The violet's the flower for me;
I'll wear it so that all may know
We love, not 'glitter,' but modesty."
