Batter the doors of Heaven;
Fling the stars aside;
What is a door or star to one
Whose blithesome heart has died?

Reach for the copper moon;
Spread desire like wings;
How can love reach the utmost height
When the heart no longer sings?

Go to the depths of Hell;
Search through Satan's mart;
There in the cavern of despair
You will find a broken heart.
