WHITE NARCISSUS, by
First Line: White narcissus in a vase
Last Line: Of a tranquil interlude.
Subject(s): Narcissus (plant)

White narcissus in a vase
Quietly pervades the room,
Takes possession of a place,
Utters syllables of bloom,
Sifts a flower-scented grace
Sweetly, subtly, into space,
Weaves a song upon the loom
Of the firelight and the gloom.

White narcissus in a bowl
Fits the music to the mood,
Quite serenely takes control,
Hushes care's insistent brood,
Makes the wounded spirit whole,
Feeds the hunger of the soul
On the satisfying food
Of a tranquil interlude.
