THE MYSTERY, by C. E. DEAL First Line: I know I am a mystery / a mystery for sure Last Line: Nor do I find a cure. Subject(s): Doubt; Mystery; Skepticism | ||||||||
I know I am a mystery, A mystery for sure; I do not know myself at all, Nor do I find a cure. Oh! love I him, or love I not I'm sure I do not know; Sometimes I surely think I do, Then sure it can't be so. I am most certain of my doubts, Of faith uncertain be; What chance may bring I cannot tell -- What fate's awaiting me. I know my mind uncertain is, It wavers to and fro; Sometimes I think I should accept, But yet I answer, "No." With certainty I hesitate, Am clear I do not see; And so I go on wondering What will my future be? You see I am a mystery, A mystery for sure; I do not know myself at all, Nor do I find a cure. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...BIRTH-DUES by ROBINSON JEFFERS SECOND NOETIC HYMN by ROBERT KELLY WALLACE STEVENS' LETTERS by ROBERT BLY IT COULDN'T BE DONE by EDGAR ALBERT GUEST THE BALLAD OF PROSE AND RHYME by HENRY AUSTIN DOBSON |
