ANGUISH, by GRACE CLARK DEGRAFF First Line: The great round moon hangs in the eastern sky Last Line: And tears come as I quickly turn my head. | |||
The great round moon hangs in the eastern sky, A golden lantern lit for lovers true. They wander hand in hand along the path, And say again those sweet words, "I love you." They pause a moment in the shadows there, Nor care if all the waiting world should see The gentle tender kiss from willing lips, The magic of this moment's ecstasy. And I sit sadly watching from above, Remembering you and all the things you said, The touch of your strong hand, your tender ways, And tears come as I quickly turn my head. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest... |
