VOICE IN DARKNESS, by RICHARD DEHMEL First Line: There's moaning somewhere in the dark Last Line: I think a heart must moan somewhere. | ||||||||
There's moaning somewhere in the dark. I want to know what it may be. The wind is angry with the night-- Yet the wind's moan sounds not so near. The wind will always moan at night. 'Tis in my ear my blood that moans-- My blood, forsooth. Yet not so strangely moans my blood. My blood is tranquil like the night. I think a heart must moan somewhere. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...FROM ON OPPRESSED HEART by RICHARD DEHMEL HARVEST SONG by RICHARD DEHMEL MANY A NIGHT by RICHARD DEHMEL MOUNTAIN PSALM by RICHARD DEHMEL SONG BEFORE NIGHT by RICHARD DEHMEL SONG FOR ALL by RICHARD DEHMEL SONG TO MY SON by RICHARD DEHMEL THE BIG MERRY-GO-ROUND (A SONG FOR A CHILD) by RICHARD DEHMEL THE GOLDFINCH by RICHARD DEHMEL |
