BECAUSE, by RUTH MILLER DENNING First Line: Because I love you Last Line: Tis beyond what I should do! Subject(s): Love | ||||||||
Because I love you, Life has been most kind to me; I'm thrilled clear through, Things just like they ought to be; Don't you know when brightness Comes, to leave the clouds behind? And we forget the silly things, That once did clog our mind. All is a quaint sweetness, Every gap my joy does fill, For I'm in love with you; I am just blind against my will. But I don't care a particle, For hours shall yet be short When I may then forget What now fills every thought. The beauties of humankind, The thrills, love's tender touch, God in His kindness then looks down, And fills my soul with much. Though I feel brimming o'er to tears And tenderness for you, I cannot say another word, 'Tis beyond what I should do! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE INVENTION OF LOVE by MATTHEA HARVEY TWO VIEWS OF BUSON by ROBERT HASS A LOVE FOR FOUR VOICES: HOMAGE TO FRANZ JOSEPH HAYDN by ANTHONY HECHT AN OFFERING FOR PATRICIA by ANTHONY HECHT LATE AFTERNOON: THE ONSLAUGHT OF LOVE by ANTHONY HECHT A SWEETENING ALL AROUND ME AS IT FALLS by JANE HIRSHFIELD MOTLEY by WALTER JOHN DE LA MARE |
