SEA GEMS, by EVON DESSINS First Line: Blue turquoise waves Last Line: From the noon sun. Subject(s): Sea; Ocean | ||||||||
I. Blue turquoise waves, Opal green sprays Of a quiet sea Slashing the crags' Jagged white thighs At dawn. II. Emerald green weeds, In patches, I see, Floating easily On a calm sea. Cerulean blue haze Rising in a morning sky. A sea gull on the wing At morn. III. Bubbling, white foam laves The face of the sand. Tiny, whirling pools of brine Forming along the edge, To outline the beach-shore, That's torn. IV. Ragged, tiny lace skirts Of the Sea Spreading their scalloped edges Over bare rocks Covering their cinnamon faces; Sheltering their black eyes From the noon sun. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...HALL OF OCEAN LIFE by JOHN HOLLANDER JULY FOURTH BY THE OCEAN by ROBINSON JEFFERS BOATS IN A FOG by ROBINSON JEFFERS CONTINENT'S END by ROBINSON JEFFERS THE FIGUREHEAD by LEONIE ADAMS THE SPARROW HARK IN THE RAIN (ALEXANDER STEPHENS HEARS NEWS) by EDGAR LEE MASTERS SONNETS FROM THE PORTUGUESE: 43 by ELIZABETH BARRETT BROWNING |
