EASY MARKS, by FAIRFAX DOWNEY First Line: Our son's phone call Last Line: Because we are so fond of him. Subject(s): Education; Universities & Colleges | ||||||||
Our son's phone call Will from college inform us His marks are small, But his bills are enormous. We sometimes call it stupidity, Since his marks are "C" And "D" And "E." And we sometimes call it extravagance, Because his allowance hasn't a chance. And we sometimes doubt in our estimation, If we can call it an education. But I think we'll humor his whim, Because we are so fond of him. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...CAMPUS SONNET: MAY MORNING by STEPHEN VINCENT BENET CAMPUS SONNET: RETURN - 1917 by STEPHEN VINCENT BENET CAMPUS SONNET: TALK by STEPHEN VINCENT BENET ODE FOR SCHOOL CONVOCATION by JOHN CIARDI A PHOTO OF A LOVER FROM MY JUNIOR YEAR IN COLLEGE by ALBERT GOLDBARTH KENT STATE, MAY 1970 by JOHN HAINES TO A VISITING POET IN A COLLEGE DORMITORY by CAROLYN KIZER |
