FANTASY, by GEORGES DRUILHET First Line: On the fairy boat aglow Last Line: Gliding swiftly, wound the water. Subject(s): Fantasy | ||||||||
ON the fairy boat aglow, That Watteau Launched for love of Cytherea, Will you sail with me, Frou-Frou, To the blue Distant land of Phantasia? Elfin gold the sun shall shed; We will tread Velvet moss through cloudless hours; Yea, and gather where the thrill is Lenten lilies All-abounding 'neath the bowers. On our love shall fall the ray Through the day At the forest's sombre feet. All too soon the night shall mingle In the dingle Twilight, where the shadows meet. Seated in the spangled bows, Wedding brows, We shall come, O Beauty's daughter, Back between the moonlight's doors, While the oars, Gliding swiftly, wound the water. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE LOVER'S GHOST by LOUIS SIMPSON MEDITATIONS ON THE SOUTH VALLEY, PART XXIII by JIMMY SANTIAGO BACA FROST AT MIDNIGHT by SAMUEL TAYLOR COLERIDGE THE DREAMS WE WAKE FROM by PATRICIA GOEDICKE THE NINE LITTLE GOBLINS by JAMES WHITCOMB RILEY |
