COMPARISON, by PAUL LAURENCE DUNBAR Poet's Biography First Line: The sky of brightest gray seems dark Last Line: Deems robin still the sweetest bird. Subject(s): Robins | ||||||||
THE sky of brightest gray seems dark To one whose sky was ever white. To one who never knew a spark, Thro' all his life, of love or light, The grayest cloud seems overbright. The robin sounds a beggar's note Where one the nightingale has heard, But he for whom no silver throat Its liquid music ever stirred, Deems robin still the sweetest bird. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE ROBIN IN JANUARY by HENRY CHARLES BEECHING OWL AGAINST ROBIN by SIDNEY LANIER HUMAN, AVIAN, VEGETABLE, BLOOD by KENNETH REXROTH THE BROWN VEST by BARBARA GUEST A ROBIN by WALTER JOHN DE LA MARE ROBIN REDBREAST by GEORGE WASHINGTON DOANE A BANJO SONG by PAUL LAURENCE DUNBAR |
