When Job delivered to the Lord, Burnt offerings to keep accord Between his God and seven sons, Perchance he went as one who runs, Yet thinks he has already won Before the race is even begun. Was pride an element of sin That Job forgot might enter in, As he proclaimed great righteousness, And raised his voice to judge and bless, While rich and poor alike would pause, To give him homage and applause? Did vanity of power and wealth Destroy Job's peace and smite his health?
