NIGHT, by
First Line: Oh stormy night with darkened veil!
Last Line: Eternal light the soul will share.
Subject(s): Night; Bedtime

Oh stormy night with darkened veil!
No stars aglow, no moon on watch,
All dark, no Venus or Great Bears.
Above, huge mystic distance lies,
Below, the irate winds contend,
So maddened in their hasty flight!
So like are they to my lone soul
Abroad the wondrous plains of space,
Where flowers droop and babies cry,
Where man and woman bravely march
To win their day of love's pure bliss.
This soul of mine in time doth speed
With eyes serene that soar so high
They view this earth a little place.
Oh stormy night with darkened veil,
Soon will thy veil be shorn, and then
Eternal light the soul will share.
