NUTTING, by JESSIE FARNHAM First Line: I never stood in a hickory wood Last Line: Are enough for me. Subject(s): Nuts & Nutting | ||||||||
I never stood in a hickory wood Before today, Nor watched the sun on hickory leaves Brightly play. I shall cherish this golden day, For long I stood, Watching the sun play hide-and-seek In the hickory wood. So entranced I forgot why I came, I just stood there, Watching the sun in the hickory leaves; My sack was bare. For those graceful leaves were dancing about In autumnal glee, And sun-dappled leaves on hickory trces Are enough for me. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...OUT A-NUTTEN by WILLIAM BARNES A NUT HARD TO CRACK by ALICE CARY NUTTING SONG by PAUL LAURENCE DUNBAR NUTTIN'-TIME by BURGES JOHNSON A MERRY HEART: DRYAD OF THE PEANUT TREE by THELMA LUCILE LULL DARK BLESSING by JESSIE FARNHAM |
