FALLEN AVIATOR, by BETTY ANN FEINEMAN First Line: In life, you sought to clip his wings and bind Last Line: I hear his eager wings released in flight. Subject(s): Aviation & Aviators; Airplanes; Air Pilots | ||||||||
In life, you sought to clip his wings and bind His vision to insensate earth. I find You mourning here beside his broken form No longer vibrant to the fire-shot storm That laughed with him across uncharted skies.... The form that fed your wifely lust. Your eyes Are dim with jealous tears ... you curse the clouds above That lured him from your vanquished, earth-bound love. While I, with love for him inconsummate, Find peace in wind and rain, as he. I wait ... Am reconciled ... for in the sensuous night I hear his eager wings released in flight. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE LEARNERS by RANDALL JARRELL AERO-LAUGHTER by ROBERT MCALMON CONSUMMATION by ROBERT MCALMON NAVY FIELD by WILLIAM MEREDITH READING MY POEMS FROM WORLD WAR II by WILLIAM MEREDITH LONELY EAGLES by MARILYN NELSON REASON DETHRONED by BETTY ANN FEINEMAN |
