SHIPS O' DREAMS, by EDITH MEDBERY FITCH First Line: The gray ships, the stately ships Last Line: A-steaming down the bay. Subject(s): Dreams; Sea; Ships & Shipping; Nightmares; Ocean | ||||||||
The gray ships, the stately ships, A-standing out to sea, With lights a-filtering through fog And flags a-floating free, Like phantoms from a fairy world Tell wondrous tales to me The gray ships, the stately ships, A-standing out to sea. The gray ships, the stately ships, Agleam with silver spray Long, long ago, they carried far My golden dreams away And one, they're bringing back to me All decked in garlands gay The gray ships, the stately ships, Agleam with silver spray. O, gray ships! O, stately ships! A-steaming down the bay I know the tales you tell are true, Of strange lands, far away; For out from their bright, shining shores You brought my dream today O, gray ships! O, stately ships! A-steaming down the bay. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...HALL OF OCEAN LIFE by JOHN HOLLANDER JULY FOURTH BY THE OCEAN by ROBINSON JEFFERS BOATS IN A FOG by ROBINSON JEFFERS CONTINENT'S END by ROBINSON JEFFERS THE FIGUREHEAD by LEONIE ADAMS DOWN WEIGAND WAY by EDITH MEDBERY FITCH |
