SAND & SPRAY: SEA-SYMPHONY. 2. VARIATIONS: 3. THE SANDS, by JOHN GOULD FLETCHER Poet's Biography First Line: Shalllow pools of water Last Line: Oozing upwards slowly in the dark wind-wrinkled sand. Subject(s): Sea; Seashore; Wind; Ocean; Beach; Coast; Shore | ||||||||
Lento Shallow pools of water Are drinking up the sky; Chasms of cool blue-white In the brown of the sands. The clouds are in them, The houses on the shore, The winds rumple the even Glimmer of the reflection. Appassionato I dash across those shallow pools: Starring their gauzy surface: A plopping rush of bubbles: I turn and watch my boot-tracks Oozing upwards slowly in the dark wind-wrinkled sand. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...SEASHORE by JOHN FREDERICK NIMS EASTERN LONG ISLAND by MARVIN BELL THE WIND IS BLOWING WEST by JOSEPH CERAVOLO IF SOMETHING SHOULD HAPPEN by LUCILLE CLIFTON THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER EMPTIES INTO THE GULF by LUCILLE CLIFTON GEOGRAPHY AS WARNING by MADELINE DEFREES POWER FAILURE by MADELINE DEFREES ARIZONA POEMS: 2.
