Mary -- O Mother of sorrow and Queen of Heaven!
Free from the guilt and the stain of all earthly things;
Thou, to whom purity, patience, and grace were given,
Vouchsafe a glance at the treasure this moment brings.

Here is our gift: she is fair as the rose at dawning,
Pure as the clouds that are wafted across the skies;
Now, on a carpet of faith beneath Heaven's awning,
Slowly she moves toward the stairway to Paradise.

Lead her, O Mother of God! in thy holy footsteps,
Watch and protect her, and keep her from sin apart;
Then, when her morning sky turns to golden sunset,
Fold her, with tenderest love, to thy waiting heart.
