A SOLIS ORTUS CARDINE, by FORD MADOX FORD Poet's Biography First Line: Oh, quiet peoples sleeping, bed by bed Last Line: Give us your prayers! Alternate Author Name(s): Hueffer, Ford Hermann; Hueffer, Ford Madox | ||||||||
Oh, quiet peoples sleeping bed by bed Beneath grey roof-trees in the glimmering West, We who can see the silver grey and red Rise over No Man's Landsalute your rest. Oh, quiet comrades, sleeping in the clay Beneath a turmoil you need no more mark, We who have lived through yet another day Salute your graves at setting in of dark. And rising from your beds or from the clay You, dead, or far from lines of slain and slayers, Thro' your eternal or your finite day Give us your prayers! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...A MASQUE OF THE TIMES O' DAY by FORD MADOX FORD A NIGHT PIECE by FORD MADOX FORD A SUABIAN LEGEND by FORD MADOX FORD ALDINGTON KNOLL; THE OLD SMUGGLER SPEAKS by FORD MADOX FORD AN ANNIVERSARY by FORD MADOX FORD AN END PIECE by FORD MADOX FORD AN IMITATION (TO M.M.) by FORD MADOX FORD AND AFTERWARDS (A SAVAGE SORT OF SONG ON THE ROAD) by FORD MADOX FORD |
