SEPTEMBER, by MARCELLA P. FRANK First Line: A robin sang as lustily today Last Line: April's sun and shower in september? Subject(s): Autumn; Seasons; Spring; Fall | ||||||||
A robin sang as lustily today As when the sun careers on April skies. A flicker too was chattering away As though about a housing enterprise. An oriole piped a wooing note and flashed A brilliant wing. A goldfinch warbled loud As though the earth unwittingly had dashed Into Springtime even under cloud Of Autumn. See they sumach, goldenrod, Apple orchards bending to the sod, Flaming ash and silken gossamer With keener eyes, eyes strangely happier For momentary pausing to remember April's sun and shower in September? | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...OUR AUTUMN by ELIZABETH AKERS ALLEN AN AUTUMN JOY by GEORGE ARNOLD A LEAF FALLS by MARION LOUISE BLISS THE FARMER'S BOY: AUTUMN by ROBERT BLOOMFIELD A LETTER IN OCTOBER by TED KOOSER AUTUMN EVENING by DAVID LEHMAN EVERYTHING THAT ACTS IS ACTUAL by DENISE LEVERTOV |
