THE LANE, by JOHN FREEMAN Poet's Biography First Line: How are those berries lovely in Last Line: And plucking other flower of dreams. Subject(s): Children; Flowers; Winter; Childhood | ||||||||
HOW are those berries lovely in This January light and sun! They gleam upon the bended bough And lift and quiver in the sun. He, laughing child, laughs happier Seeing the Winter sun in flower, And shakes the sprays, till the dew falls As if the light had turned to flower. And graver seeing, or seeing nought, Another child walks on in dreams Beneath the flowers of light and sun And plucking other flower of dreams. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE THREE CHILDREN by JOSEPHINE JACOBSEN CHILDREN SELECTING BOOKS IN A LIBRARY by RANDALL JARRELL COME TO THE STONE ... by RANDALL JARRELL THE LOST WORLD by RANDALL JARRELL A SICK CHILD by RANDALL JARRELL CONTINENT'S END by ROBINSON JEFFERS ON THE DEATH OF FRIENDS IN CHILDHOOD by DONALD JUSTICE |
