SONG, by JEAN FROISSART Poet's Biography First Line: I often hear it said Last Line: To be reserved and shy. Alternate Author Name(s): Froissart, Jehan | ||||||||
I OFTEN hear it said I bear myself too high; It suits a little maid To be reserved and shy. This morn I left my bed Upon the point of day, And to the garden sped Ere passed the dews away. Within the sheltered ground I thought the first to be; But there my love I found A-picking flowers for me. I often hear it said I bear myself too high; It suits a little maid To be reserved and shy. I gave the wreath I twined For him on yester eve, And joyful was to find He did my gift receive; He cried, 'My wishes heed, O gentle maid and fair; A little more than need, To me you cruel are.' I often hear it said I bear myself too high; It suits a little maid To be reserved and shy. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...RONDEAU OF FARE-WELL by JEAN FROISSART RONDEAU OF HYS LADYE by JEAN FROISSART THE PRIVATE OF THE BUFFS; OR, THE BRITISH SOLDIER IN CHINA by FRANCIS HASTINGS CHARLES DOYLE THE VILLAGE MUNITIONS CO., INC.; FORMERLY THE VILLAGE BLACKSMITH by FRANKLIN PIERCE ADAMS |
