"O hush-a-bye, my Darling, -- hush! No hill can reach so high! Sleep sweetly in the quiet Ark, Beneath God's quiet eye. The foamless waters spread their sea As though the clouds are strand, So near to Highest God are we, What is He but our land! O hush-a-bye, my Darling, -- hush! No hill can reach so high! Sleep sweetly in the quiet Ark, Beneath God's quiet eye. Bright fishes move above the tide, They dart from star to star, The baby dolphins roll and hide, -- They have never been so far! O hush-a-bye, my Darling, -- hush! No hill can reach so high! Sleep sweetly in the quiet Ark, Beneath God's quiet eye. The white Dove broods above the dark, She rests as on the land; God is her Ark, and she. I think, A white lamp in His hand. O hush-a-bye, my Darling, -- hush! No hill can reach so high! Sleep sweetly in the quiet Ark, Beneath God's quiet eye. To God and Son, forever One, And to the silver Dove, All praises be from all the host Of hearts that know His love. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE APOLLO TRIO by CONRAD AIKEN BAD GIRL SINGING by MARK JARMAN CHAMBER MUSIC: 4 by JAMES JOYCE CHAMBER MUSIC: 5 by JAMES JOYCE CHAMBER MUSIC: 28 by JAMES JOYCE THE SONG OF THE NIGHTINGALE IS LIKE THE SCENT OF SYRINGA by MINA LOY BEETHOVEN by SARAH MARGARET FULLER |
