MY GARDEN GUESTS, by ROBERTA GAGE First Line: A bluebird found a hole in my old china tree Last Line: God fits the need for them as for me. Subject(s): Birds; Bluebirds; Gardens & Gardening | ||||||||
A bluebird found a hole in my old china tree, "Chir-rip, chir-ree," He said to me. "Go on in," I said to him, "And I shall gladly your hostess be." Another one joined him from not far away, "Chir-rip, chir-ray," She was so gay! "Yes, I know He's your beau. I, too, was married the month of May." Three more in the little hole now there be, "Chee-chee, chee-chee," So say all three. House or nest, Which is best? God fits the need for them as for me. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...NOVEMBER GARDEN: AN ELEGY by ANDREW HUDGINS AN ENGLISH GARDEN IN AUSTRIA (SEEN AFTER DER ROSENKAVALIER) by RANDALL JARRELL ACROSS THE BROWN RIVER by GALWAY KINNELL A DESERTED GARDEN by GEORGE LAWRENCE ANDREWS NOT THE SWEET CICELY OF GERARDES HERBALL by MARGARET AVISON AN OLD GARDEN by HERBERT BASHFORD THE GOLDEN WEDDING OF STERLING AND SARAH LANIER by SIDNEY LANIER |
