AT SUNSET, by JOHN GALSWORTHY Poet's Biography First Line: I've seen the moon, with lifted wing Last Line: To me, remembering tennessee. Alternate Author Name(s): Sinjohn, John Subject(s): Tennessee | ||||||||
I'VE seen the moon, with lifted wing, A white hawk -- over a cypress tree; The lover's star, the bloom of Spring, And evening folded on Tennessee. I've seen the little streams run down -- All smoke-blue, lost in faerie; And, far, the violet mountains crown The darkness breathing on Tennessee. I've seen the beautiful, so clear -- And it has gone to the heart of me; So there'll be magic ever near To me, remembering Tennessee. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...FAIR TIMES IN OLD TENNESSEE by JOHN TROTWOOD MOORE LONGIN' FUR TENNESSEE (A LAMENT FROM YANKEE LAND) by JOHN TROTWOOD MOORE SUNSET ON THE TENNESSEE by JOHN TROTWOOD MOORE TENNESSEE; A CENTENNIAL POEM, 1897 by JOHN TROTWOOD MOORE THE LILY OF FORT CUSTER by JOHN TROTWOOD MOORE THE OLD PLANTATION by JOHN TROTWOOD MOORE THE TENNESSEEAN TO THE FLAG by JOHN TROTWOOD MOORE YORK OF TENNESSEE by EDNA DEAN PROCTOR |
