A MOTHER'S PRAYER, by
First Line: The sun is brightly shining
Last Line: When our bobby goes to school.
Subject(s): Children; Mothers; Prayer; Schools; Childhood; Students

The sun is brightly shining,
Not a cloud is overhead,
Yet the heart is repining,
And a tear or two is shed.
For babyhood is past,
The day has come at last
When our Bobby starts to school.

Father, lend Thy watchful care,
Wilt Thou ever present be?
Mothers can't be everywhere,
They may only trust in Thee.
E'er keep him in Thy sight,
From morning till the night,
When our Bobby goes to school.

Bless his little hands that they
May away from mischief keep,
Round about him in his play,
Let no evil shadows creep.
May he know, in Thy love,
Thou'rt watching from above,
When our Bobby is at school.

Bless his feet -- lead where is best,
Only good for Thee to do,
And thus may his life be blessed
By the lovely, pure, and true.
May his soul give Thee praise,
For Thy care through the days,
When our Bobby goes to school.
