THE DAMASCUS ROAD, by EMMA LEE GLENN First Line: How far on the road to damascus Last Line: You have traveled this glorious day. Subject(s): Roads; Travel; Paths; Trails; Journeys; Trips | ||||||||
How far on the road to Damascus How far have you traveled today? The road to Damascus is barren With stubble and stones on the way. Have you journeyed as far as the cross-road Where One long ago saw the light, Have you knelt in the dust 'midst the glory Which shone through the darkness of night? Have you learned of that self-abnegation Where pleasure and pride fade away, Where love throws its beams like a candle Afar, on the rugged highway? Have you taken His hand for your guidance Where nothing can fright or dismay? Then far on the road to Damascus You have traveled this glorious day. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...RICHARD, WHAT'S THAT NOISE? by RICHARD HOWARD LOOKING FOR THE GULF MOTEL by RICHARD BLANCO RIVERS INTO SEAS by LYNDA HULL DESTINATIONS by JOSEPHINE JACOBSEN THE ONE WHO WAS DIFFERENT by RANDALL JARRELL THE CONFESSION OF ST.
