DESERT NIGHT, by MARION GOBLE First Line: Come out and have a look at god Last Line: And have a look at god, he said. Subject(s): God | ||||||||
Come out and have a look at God He said. So we made little wishbones of our thoughts In the desert, In the moonlight, And sprung them, and had our wishes, The Joshua trees were without peace in the peace of the land; We looked aside, encountering them. Smoke trees were gentle, And the sage brush was chastened By moonlight. Rabbits sprang in the brush. God had done it, and we two were alive to witness. (And all the time my mind was away from it, In a past or in a future without this. My mind was a quick rabbit in the brush. My mind was contemplating the Joshua.) Come out And have a look at God, he said. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE MOUNTAIN IS STRIPPED by DAVID IGNATOW AS CLOSE AS BREATHING by MARK JARMAN UNHOLY SONNET 1 by MARK JARMAN UNHOLY SONNET 13 by MARK JARMAN BIRTH-DUES by ROBINSON JEFFERS THE SILENT SHEPHERDS by ROBINSON JEFFERS |
