Dear God, please walk beside me
Through this shadow of despair;
Take my hand and guide me,
Teach me well to bear

With greater ease, the sorrow
That saddens now my days.
Grant me strength to meet tomorrow
With fortitude and grace.

For Thine is the glorious power
To solace and hearten the weak;
Comfort and strengthen the coward;
Thy guidance and blessing I seek.
