First Line: Twere good, above a jovial cup
Last Line: The laughter of thy song.
Subject(s): Jonson, Ben (1572-1637); Poetry & Poets; Yale University

'TWERE good, above a jovial cup,
Amongst the merry throng,
To hear thy great voice lifted up --
The laughter of thy song.

Thy fate, O Ben, was wondrous kind,
Thy fame has lasted long;
For still in musty books men find
The laughter of thy song.
