THE RECONCILIATION, by LAURA M. GREGG First Line: The sun and april were at outs Last Line: Were gems for her adorning. Subject(s): April; Rain; Sun | ||||||||
The sun and April were at outs, And gloomy was the morning; She hid her face, with frowns and pouts, And treated him with scorning. But he, despite her stormy ways, And manner cold and chilling, Still bent on her a loving gaze, And to forgive was willing. But yet she hid her frowning face From his so bright and beaming; Beneath her veil of misty lace, With tears her eyes were streaming. Then hotly, ardently he wooed, She could no more resist him; And, with a sudden change of mood, She rent her veil and kissed him! And when these two were reconciled A charm fell o'er the morning; And April's teardrops when she smiled, Were gems for her adorning. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...JOURNEY INTO THE EYE by DAVID LEHMAN AGAINST EXCESS OF SEA OR SUN OR REASON by WILLIAM MEREDITH WHY I WAKE EARLY by MARY OLIVER CONTRA MORTEM: THE SUN by HAYDEN CARRUTH SERPENT SUN EYE BEWITCHING MY EYE by AIME CESAIRE THE LIGHTED WINDOW by SARA TEASDALE |
