WHITE BIRCH, by DORA HAGEMEYER First Line: Teach me to bend beneath the wind as purely! Last Line: Strong as the sun, unshaken and divine. Subject(s): Birch Trees | ||||||||
Teach me to bend beneath the wind as purely! With lilt of line, resilient yet not weak; To straighten back again, serenely, surely, Perfect in poise till other storms shall speak. Teach me to know the discipline demanded; When to accept and when to seek my own. Let me respond unto the deed commanded Walking by faith until the light is shown. Then like the white-limbed tree to peace returning Shorn of its leaves, but purer still of line Let me return to Love and find it burning Strong as the sun, unshaken and divine. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE YOUNG BIRCH by ROBERT FROST THE TURNING OF THE LEAVES by VERNON WATKINS TO A BIRCH TREE by KENNETH SLADE ALLING WHITE BIRCHES by MARY BRADLEY BRAMHALL MOUNTAIN MOMENT by ALEXANDER KINMAN LAING |
