WINTER TREE, by DORA HAGEMEYER First Line: When I have shed me bare of leaves Last Line: About my naked shoulder. Subject(s): Trees | ||||||||
When I have shed me bare of leaves Under some wind descending, There shall not be a word that grieves For any season's ending... Bereft of leaf, bereft of flower, A tree for winter waiting; Of naked grief in that white hour There shall be no abating. The sky will fall all blue and frail Or weave a garment colder, But I shall need no earthly veil About my naked shoulder. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE PROBLEM OF DESCRIBING TREES by ROBERT HASS THE GREEN CHRIST by ANDREW HUDGINS MIDNIGHT EDEN by JOSEPHINE JACOBSEN REFLECTION OF THE WOOD by LEONIE ADAMS THE LIFE OF TREES by DORIANNE LAUX |
