APRIL IN THE DESERT, by SUDIE STUART HAGER First Line: My heart turns gratefully to you Last Line: With you I see the spring! Subject(s): April; Deserts; Food & Eating | ||||||||
My heart turns gratefully to you Now April's come around; You said: "The desert has a charm When soft green tints the ground." You worked love's magic on my eyes; I saw so much to praise! I felt the lure of barren lands, Those pastel April days. Clear yellow of the prickly pear, Dawn-pink of creeping phlox, The blue-bell's shimmering, sky-washed hue, Pale mauve of crumbling rocks. Rich valleys called you from these plains -- My heart still bears the sting -- But April always brings you back; With you I see the Spring! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...WAITRESSING IN THE ROOM WITH A THOUSAND MOONS by MATTHEA HARVEY CANDIED YAMS' by TERRANCE HAYES DINNER OF HERBS by LOUISE MOREY BOWMAN THE BANQUET SONG by KENNETH KOCH SPLITTING AN ORDER by TED KOOSER NO TIME TO DIE by SUDIE STUART HAGER |
