WHEN THE LILACS ARE BLOOMIMG AGAIN, by LERREL HALMER First Line: The mocking bird sings in the hedge Last Line: Till the lilacs bloom again. Subject(s): Spring | ||||||||
The mocking bird sings in the hedge, The robin hops over the lawn; The bluebirds are building a nest, They are busy from early dawn. The sparrows twitter round the chimney -- To the lovely outdoors, I am drawn; Ah, the tulips! No greater glory attained the wise man! And the lilacs are blooming again. Out in the garden a blackbird, Searches the freshly turned soil, Sprouts from the seed are peeping through And the tender green leaves unfoil, All nature seems joining in gentle refrain, When the lilacs are blooming again. The rose bushes become laden, And the ramblers on the wall; The flowers come and leave. From spring till early fall, We welcome them with joy; We are sad to see them go; And when we hear the thunder After months of frost and snow, When the spring showers Gently trickle down the pane, We know it won't be long Till the lilacs bloom again. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...SPRING LEMONADE by TONY HOAGLAND A SPRING SONG by LYMAN WHITNEY ALLEN SPRING'S RETURN by GEORGE LAWRENCE ANDREWS ODE TO SPRING by ANNA LETITIA BARBAULD ODE TO SPRING by ANNA LETITIA BARBAULD SPRING FLOODS by MAURICE BARING SPRING IN WINTER by CHARLOTTE FISKE BATES SPRING ON THE PRAIRIE by HERBERT BATES THE FARMER'S BOY: SPRING by ROBERT BLOOMFIELD |
