My heart is singing a song today -- For at last I am set free To do the things I want most to do, To be as I wish to be. I can explore this lovely land of ours, Its mountains, rivers and lakes; I can go to sea to see the sun Or where'er my heart dictates. I can sing or sew, I can read or write, I can play or dance to my heart's delight. I can roam through forest or field with ease For now I'm free . . . I can do as I please. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...LOVE THE WILD SWAN by ROBINSON JEFFERS AFTER TENNYSON by AMBROSE BIERCE QUARTET IN F MAJOR by WILLIAM MEREDITH CROSS THAT LINE by NAOMI SHIHAB NYE EMANCIPATION by ELIZABETH ALEXANDER |
