WAITING, by ETHELYN MILLER HARTWICH First Line: My window looks upon the sea Last Line: Experience in living. Subject(s): Hope; Love; Optimism | ||||||||
My window looks upon the sea Across far shining beaches Where endless sunlit waves ride free Beyond the sandy reaches. My woman's soul is on that sea, A venturing bark returning, With the gracious gift of God for me Responsive to my yearning. The sweet winds sigh through white-flung sails Soft as an angel's winging, Into the stress of harbor gales Divine adventure bringing. And so I wait, and waiting know The magnitude of giving A human soul, for weal or woe, Experience in living. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...HOPE IS NOT FOR THE WISE by ROBINSON JEFFERS SONNET by JAMES WELDON JOHNSON SPRING FLOODS by MAURICE BARING SONNET: 9.
