FAREWELL TO SUMMER, by
First Line: A chill in the air at evening
Last Line: I hold you in my heart.
Subject(s): Autumn; Seasons; Fall

A chill in the air at evening --
The end of summer is near --
Her emerald garlands, fading,
Too soon shall disappear.

Autumn's rich enchantress
With scarlet film and gold
In vain may weave a gossamer
My loyal heart to hold.

Sweet summer -- dearest season --
Though your rosy tints depart
Beyond my dream-horizon,
I hold you in my heart.
